As we approached the Busch Gardens parking lot around 1 p.m. yesterday, I lamented to the boys that we were probably not going to get the close up stroller parking we get on days we arrive at opening.
"Maybe we should pray about it," Max said.
"I'm not sure it warrants supernatural intervention," was my dismissive response.
But someone with childlike faith prayed anyhow . . .
Without much hope, I asked the attendant for stroller parking and wasn't surprise to hear it was filled up - but then he said, "you know what I can do is give you preferred parking."
"That would be great!" I said.
Not sure if all five children in the car cheered, but Chris' precious four year old voice from the back seat could be clearly heard, shouting over and over again, "Thank you. God bless you. I love you."
The attendant glanced over in surprise and smiled as he gathered the receipt and parking pass. As he handed it all in through my window he said, "Thank you for that miracle."
The boys were highly amused by this turn of events and laughed at my lack of faith. JJ, our neighbor and guest for the day, imagined God saying, "I'll show her!"
Was that really God? Wouldn't the same thing have happened either way? Well, all I know is that an amazing number of "coincidences" happen to people who pray. My children are good teachers of how I should lean into God in all things - He is not Santa Claus and does not magically grant all wishes, but like a loving parent, He does want good things for each of us.
