Foster Funnies

As I kissed Trey goodnight I explained that tomorrow we will celebrate his 7th birthday early, as Dave is working a 12 hour shift on Friday, Trey's real birthday. (He's been pretty bummed his dad's working on his special day.) But, I assured him, we will also celebrate his real birthday on Friday. And, because his favorite meal of homemade chicken noodle soup is an all day cooking ordeal that doesn't fit our Friday plans, I let him know he would have his birthday meal on Saturday. He asked, "So, I get three birthdays?" "No," I said. "We will just celebrate your birthday on three different days." He clearly did not get what I meant as he excitedly ran out to find Dave and shouted, "I'm going to turn nine because I get three birthdays!"

Well, at least his math was right!

Chris has learned some less than kind phrases from the children at his preschool like, "you are not my friend" and "you are not invited to my birthday party." We are working with him to say only kind things . . . but, we haven't quite gotten through to him yet. After he went to bed tonight we were discussing his antics and Max observed, "Chris is a meany crossed with happy - a mappy! Or is that a heany?"
